ABOUT  PROJECT

As part of the requirements for the DUT B-tech programme, we were required to come up with a topic of our interest to research and produce a practical design scheme.  Due to my interest in rural development my topic was;

Rural regeneration: cultivating a renewed identity to promote continuity and a sense of place for a new maker and creative workspace in a rural context.

The topic was inspired by the boom of inner city rejuvenation projects over the years and the lack of initiatives geared towards similar goals for rural contexts.

The basic idea was to utilize materials that are familiar to the context but echoed in a modern and inviting sense that positively captures its contextual identity.

The space is designed in way that allows the diffrent zones overlap and flow into each other blurring  the line between semi private and public zones to promote a sense of community.
