My name is Simphiwe Mlambo I am a 24 year old interior designer and aspiring product designer. I was born in Mtubatuba a small town on the north coast of KZN, where my passion for design was inspired by my father who is a builder and my mother a furniture sales rep.

I recently completed my undergraduate degree at the Durban University of Technology. I was granted the opportunity to partake in a furniture design competition which was curated by the Department of Trade and Industry at  Decorex last year 2017. The experience and exposure from various media platforms gave me confidence to pursue the dream of becoming a recognised product designer.

I have been groomed and mentored by one of the most reputable design studios in Durban, gih studio. The experience I have gained over a year and few months working with the gih team has improved my technical abilities and task management skills. In the near future I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge and adding value to the design industry by creating spaces using simple materials and tasteful custom products.
